Photography

I have been a rangefinder user for the past few years. I started with a Leica CL and then a Zeiss Ikon. Currently, I am happily shooting with a Leica M9. I mostly photograph what I experience, meaning I carry my camera with me everywhere and when something triggers the photographer within, out comes my camera. The rangefinder is, in my opinion, the best tool for this type of documentary photography.

Find more of my photography at Scott Wallick Photography, my (albeit basic) portfolio. The larger pool of my photography is posted on my Flickr, which I update most days. I started the Flickr groups for Darjeeling and Nepal’s Terai, which are two of my favorite places to photograph.

Tourist: Orange couch in JPEG Magazine

Tourist: Orange couch in JPEG Magazine An odd photography (above left) I took of an orange couch in the New Delhi domestic airport was published in JPG Magazine as a full-page opener in the Tourist issue (Issue 8). I intend to continue to contribute again to JPG Magazine, so watch my profile. Do not expect any more furniture.

Waiting for a connecting flight in New Delhi, a bit numb after hours of flying, this orange couch seemed like a beacon of rest.

  • Elephant in Lain Chhor

An elephant covering one chaos theory A photograph I took of a friend riding an elephant down a thoroughfare in Kathmandu (this was not normal but entirely contrived and ridiculous) was published as the cover to My Chaos Theory, a collection of short stories by Steve Watkins.

I was contacted randomly by an editor at Southern Methodist Unniversity, the publisher, for permission to use my photo, which she had found on my Peace Corps blog.

  • Photography as hobby

Commuter on 7 Train I love this photograph I took of a commuter on a 7 Train somewhere along my daily trip to the office. When I think of the subway, I usually think of hands. For better or worse.
